Hendrick Meserole Fine Art

This series takes a look at the idea of “Indigenous” as it relates to local wildlife in and around our Long Island, New York. Oystercatchers, piping plovers, egrets, and black skimmers line the shores, beaches and marshes of the south shore. As residents of this area, Samantha and John found these species to be a source of inspiration and beauty.
Each painting started with a découpage background made up of various newspaper clippings, photos, and other found materials. This created a textured background on which Samantha and John painted each shorebird. Take a look at each painting, and click on the image to view it larger.
